Reynard in the Wood

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

WP_-_Reynard-150Reynard is Robin's brother, and despite having a great admiration for his fellow Saxon warleader, he doesn't quite grasp his brother's sense of natural justice. The campaign to win hearts and minds amongst the serfs by distributing loot to them is especially baffling. Reynard identifies more with the Saxon chieftains of old, leading their people to greatness by intrigue and war. To Reynard, that means brokering alliances and deals with the most powerful neighbours, and raiding and subjugating the weaker ones. Like Robin, Reynard is an expert in guerrilla warfare tactics and the use of the longbow.

Mother Parsnips

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

Mother ParsnipsFollowing an accusation of witchcraft, Mother Parsnips was subject to trial by ordeal, carried out by superstitious pagans. Ironically she was rescued by a Christian monk, but could not remain in her village to protect her, and thus she fell in with outlaws.

Mother Parsnips was somewhat unhinged by her experience and since then she has sworn dark curses on all mankind and uses her gifts as an herbalist to take life and cause pain.

Robin is ambivalent about having her in the group, but Reynard and Scathelocke find her talents and bitterness extremely useful when properly channelled.

Will Scathelocke

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

WP_-_Will_-_150Will Scathelocke carries the most serious charge of all the outlaws, for he is wanted for murder. Scathelocke is accused of murdering a tax collector, and he freely admits the charge to the others. Reynard regards him as a gifted protégé, but Robin finds his eagerness to resort to bloodletting somewhat unsettling. Scathelocke's experience and preferred tactics have made him a formidable stealth killer and accomplished knife thrower. He prefers to be close to the kill and delights in using Mother Parsnips' blade venoms.

Gui le Bâtard

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

Gui

Gui is thirty one years old, having been born in Normandy just prior to William's conquest of Anglo-Saxon England. Gui's father was one of the Norman lords that accompanied William to that famous battle with Harold, and went on to settle in the newly conquered kingdom, granted lands there in return for his service and fealty. Gui knows of this because his mother, Marian, would sit the infant on her knee and tell him tales of his father, the conquering knight. Marian was not a great lady of the Norman or Angevin courts though. She was a scullery maid with whom the knight had an affair, before he departed the shores of France forever, leaving her to raise the child as best she could.

Sir Beauregard the Black

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

Sir Beauregard the BlackSir Beauregard lives at Castle Sudemarche, in the Marcher Kingdom of Monmouth, on lands he seized from the Welsh following the Norman Conquest. A ruthless tyrant with a Machiavellian streak, Beauregard scorns the new laws introduced by William the Conqueror and lives instead by the continental code of Fort Mayne (basically Might is Right). In battle Beauregard is a well-rounded melee fighter with a penchant for the greatsword.

Mold the Idiot and Oi! the Baggage Serf

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

Oi-flip-150Mold-Flip-150Mold is dense as a plank, but strong as an ox. He was dropped as a baby and fed on beer and frumenty throughout his young life. In battle Mold can smite foes with his great fists or hurl rocks at them, which was one of his favourite pastimes as a child.

Brother Oswald

Character Biographies - Gui le Batard's Party Bios

OswaldBrother Oswald is the Deacon of Gwent, though by birth he is a Saxon from Staffordshire. He disguises his inherent sadism and self regard behind a mask of piety, and the prayers he utters in times of conflict tend to focus on harming the enemy rather than aiding his "friends". If all else fails he carries an affectedly simple, custom made crosier called The Crux, which he wields like a quarterstaff.
