Watt is the Shire Reeve of Herefordshire, and he’s making a tour of the parishes and manors of the county to ensure that the law and order are maintained. With Lord Roger off campaigning against the Welsh, Watt is focusing his attention on the Ewyas Harold area, and passing through Much Stoatley, he is disturbed to find three different factions of heavily armed adventuring types hanging around the small village. He decides to stay a while to deal with any potential trouble caused by these outsiders, and he doesn’t have to wait for long!
