Llewellyn is not a name that wins friends or influence amongst the Normans, as it suggests kinship with the last high king of Wales, Gruffydd ap Llewellyn, who fought the Anglo-Saxons on these very lands and died just a few years before the conquest. However, Llewellyn’s easy charm and fine vittles and vintneries keep them entertained, so the lord allows him to maintain the Cider Press Inn as a freeman of the parish.
