Robin in the Wood
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Robin is a Saxon outlaw from Yorkshire. He fled to the forests following a conviction under new Norman laws that make poaching the king's deer a capital offense. With his brother Reynard, Robin shares leadership of a group of outlaws, all similarly convicted of capital offenses ranging from the trivial (stealing a loaf) to the grave (murder). Robin and his band are now full blown Saxon rebels, committed to the overthrow of the Normans by guerrilla warfare. Along with his brother he leads them in ambushes against Norman supply lines and caravans and he is an expert with the longbow.
Wulfric
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Wulfric is an expert tracker and scout. He freely hunted all the beasts of the chase before the Norman Conquest, but that upheaval robbed Wulfric of his livelihood and criminalised his way of life.
Convicted of poaching and outlawed by the death sentence it carries, like the others, Wulfric now lives in the woods and fights the system that has oppressed him. In addition to his hunting prowess, Wulfric is an expert staff fighter.
Alex
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Alex is the youngest of the outlaw group and harbours a big secret. Alex is a girl posing as a boy in order to be accepted by the group. Robin and Reynard operate no particular gender exclusion policy, but as a teenager, she probably has a point as far as the disguise goes. There's a complication though, because Alex has developed a powerful crush on Robin and wants to declare her intentions, but doing so would reveal the truth. For now, she remains a boy and has learned to be a skilled guerrilla fighter. If Robin is endangered though, Alex fights like a demon to save him.
Sir Hugo of Deangard
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Hugo entered the world on the first day of May, in the year 1078 anno domini. Now aged eighteen, the second son of Sir Robert Bonneville and the late Lady Eloise has never travelled beyond the limits of the Fief of Deangard. Deangard borders the wild frontier of the Welsh Marches, and comprises a motte and bailey castle at the centre of a cleared area. It is surrounded by dense, primordial forests where bears, wolves, small dragons, griffons, unicorns and Saxon rebels roam and the Wild Hunt pursues the damned, or so it is said...
Sir Penhaligon
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Sir Penhaligon traces his lineage back to the Celtic Kings of Cornwall, and he's Sir Robert's oldest friend and questing companion. He has a good and gentle spirit, sharing many of the fuddled old knight mannerisms of his friend, but for all that he is quite fearless in battle. What he lacks in speed and grace with his beloved great hammer is more than balanced by its terrible destructive power.
Eck the Ostler and Lucy the Pony
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Eck is a stable boy at Deangard who dreams of becoming a squire, and ultimately, one day a knight. He is by turns enthusiastic and petulant, but always energetic. Eck is a just a boy and doesn't have a place in the melee with armoured warriors, so he remains at a distance with his staff sling if there is trouble.
Canute the Dog
Character Biographies - Sir Hugo of Deangard's Party Bios
Canute is a small, terrier-like stray dog of indeterminate breed. He joined Friar John at some point on the priest’s travels and has been a constant companion since. John named the dog after the Danish king famed for his tenacity (even if he was somewhat short in the logic department). Although he isn’t much of a fighter, Canute can harry much bigger opponents, pinning them down and nipping at their ankles as they ineffectually try to swat away his small, darting frame.
